Located on 94th Street and Collins Avenue, the GBH Surfside East is a full service, 14 story, 268 key hotel, located on the sandy beaches of the Atlantic Ocean. The building program includes a 4,000 s.f. meeting and events space, a spa, 150 seat restaurant, a lobby bar and a ground floor amenity deck, containing two pools and two spas.
There is a spectacular sunset bar, accompanied by a rooftop pool deck containing a pool and two spas, providing a 360 degree panoramic view of the Atlantic as well as Downtown Miami.
Upon entry into the lobby, the guest is welcomed by a clear view of the ocean, framed by clean lines and a simple yet refined palette of materials and colors, a theme consistent throughout the hotel. The design provides the guest a sense of light and calm.
Taking advantage of local zoning codes, some suites to have large terraces, fitted with landscaping and private hot tubs. Most other guestrooms were designed to have 8' deep balconies for the guests to enjoy the South Florida weather from the comfort of their rooms.
This project achieved LEED Silver certification through the implementation of numerous energy and water conserving design features.
The architectural design was created by John Perez, while working with MB Development as Director of Architecture. His entailed involvement was from inception through permitting, on site construction administration and project delivery to hotel operations team.
As Director of Architecture, John Perez led the design and coordination of landscape and interior design.
